I have spent more than twenty years as a passionate, involved citizen building relationships with local, State and Federal law makers and advocating for good policies and laws.
TYSON IN ACTION
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Layton has a rich history of citizen participation and service. I recently had the opportunity to help organize and execute a Farmers Feeding Utah Miracle Project here in Layton where 1,200 boxes of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy products were given to family's experiencing food insecurity. When we asked for 25 volunteers and ended up with nearly 100, it made me proud to be a member of the Layton community. As a city Councilman, I will work to create more opportunities like this and encourage more residents to participate and experience a true sense of community.

PRESERVING OPEN SPACE
I have not only witnessed Layton change over the past 40+ years, I have worked hard to preserve open space. As a member of the Davis County Agriculture Advisory Board, I participated in the approval of several "Agriculture Protection Area's"(APA) and worked with the Layton City Planning and Zoning Department to make small plot agriculture an open space option for new developments.
BALANCING GROWTH AND
PROPERTY RIGHTS
My experience on the Layton City Planning
Commission has provided me with increased
knowledge pertaining to private property rights
and local and state land use laws. I have provided
a strong voice to preserve tools such as landscape
buffers and required setbacks to protect the rights
of Layton citizens.
